The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R 1 is secondary alkyl or cycloalkyl, R 2 is alkyl or cycloalkyl, R<SP>1</SP> 3 is aryl which may be substituted by alkyl or alkoxy of 1-4 carbon atoms or by halogen, R 4 is H or alkyl or 1-4 carbon atoms, Q is alkylene, A is unsubstituted alkyl or cycloalkyl, alkoxy, cycloalkoxy or aryl and n is 1 or 2. The compounds are prepared from compounds of the formula where Y 1 and Y 2 are both hydrogen or one of Y 1 or Y 2 is acyl and R 3 is aryl which may be substituted as in R<SP>1</SP> 3 by treating in any order with n mol of a sulphonating agent, one mol of a compound of the formula HO-CH 2 -NR 4 - CO-A or a reactive functional derivative thereof and if desired with a saponifying agent. The compounds may be obtained as alkali metal salts. The starting materials may be obtained by condensing a compound of the formula optionally after acylation with a compound of the formula H 2 N-CHR 2 -Q-R 3 or by condensing a compound of the formula optionally after acylation with a compound of the formula R 1 NH 2 . |
