摘要 PURPOSE: A device for monitoring power of a frequency-modulated optical signal and an optical frequency is provided to frequency-modulate an optical signal outputted from a transmitter, and to monitor power and optical frequencies of each channel of WDM(Wavelength Division Multiplexing) optical signals by using a demultiplexer and a photo detector in a node to be monitored, thereby efficiently managing a WDM optical communication network. CONSTITUTION: A transmission end for obtaining frequency-modulated signals comprises as follows. A DFB(Distribution FeedBack) laser(101) generates optical signals. A tone generator(102) applies a tone signal to the optical signals, and simultaneously modulates amplitudes and frequencies of the optical signals. A phase controller(104) controls a phase of the tone signal. An optical modulator(103) is driven by the phase controller(104), and suppresses amplitude changes of the optical signals whose amplitudes are modulated by the tone generator(102). An optical coupler(105) couples the frequency-modulated optical signals. An external optical modulator(106) modulates the optical signals at a very high speed.
