PURPOSE: An agent for preventing adhesions of organs containing pachyman originated from Poria cocos (Fr.) Wolf as a main component is provided which can prevent adhesion of organs caused by surgery operations or surgical injury of human or animals. CONSTITUTION: This anti-adhesion agent for organs is a water soluble or insoluble material obtained from plant polysaccharides or mushroom polysaccharides. The plant polysaccharides are cellulose and the mushroom polysaccharides are polysaccharides of Poria cocos (Fr.) Wolf, Polyporus umbellatus (Pers.) Fries, etc.. The agent is useful in surgery to prevent the formation of post-surgical adhesions and has improved safety to human body.
