The system (1) has an interface (3,9) for connecting a mobile radio telephone (5) base station (4,10), whereby the interface is formed via a public telephone dial-up connection (7) to establish a telephone connection to the base device. The interface is formed to transfer a performance characteristic off the switching station via the telephone connection. Independent claims are also included for the following: a base station for a radio telephone and a method of transmitting a performance characteristic for a switching station via a telephone connection.
