PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a prism unit which has components with prolonged life by improving ventilation, is easily assembled, adjusted and maintained and is low-cost. SOLUTION: The prism unit consists of a prism 2, three pieces of liquid crystal mounting plates 5 to mount liquid crystal panels 4, an upper side frame 6 to be fixed to the upper surface of the prism 2, a lower side frame 7 to be fixed to the base of the prism 2 and a pedestal 3 holding the prism 2 and the lower side frame 7 from beneath and being attached to a specified position inside a liquid crystal projector. The upper parts of the liquid crystal mounting plates 5 and the upper side frame 6 and the lower parts of the liquid crystal mounting plates 5 and the lower side frame 7 are respectively provided with parts 9 fixing the liquid crystal mounting plates to respectively connect and fix themselves. Upper side opening parts 6b are provided on the upper side frame 6 in specified positions between the prism 2 and the liquid crystal mounting plates 5. At the same time, polarization filter parts 10 with polarization filters 8 are provided which are freely attachable to and detachable from the upper side opening parts 6b. |
