PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a metallic composite member having sufficient joining strength, in which uniform joining can be obtained even when the joining area is large. SOLUTION: A composite alloy 14 and a base material 12 consisting of ferrous metal are heated in a second HIP process (hot isostatic pressing process) 48, and are also pressurized by pressure gas, so that they are subjected to diffusion joining with each other under the condition that the joined faces are uniform. Thus, the metallic composite member 10 having sufficient joining strength can be obtained even when the joining area is large. In this way, even when the member is cut into desired dimensions, breaking does not occur between the composite alloy 14 and the base material 12.
