PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically select the gateway of the cheapest communication charge for the inputted telephone number of a connection destination from the telephone number when a call to a general telephone network is made through a gateway. SOLUTION: In a network such as the Internet, a gateway is provided and a gateway server is also provided and the gateway server has a table and informs a caller of a gateway for connection with an opposite-party telephone set when there is a call based upon the IP address of the gateway server and the telephone number of the opposite-party telephone set.
