PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk insertion and discharge mechanism, constituted to prevent a disk from being damaged by a cap-closing operation, at insertion of the disk. SOLUTION: The shape of an opening and closing side end edge of a cap 5 actuated to be opened and closed by a driving means is formed to a recessed form which does not abut against the signal recording segment of the disk 1 and the area corresponding to the outer peripheral edge of the disk 5 which is not recorded with signals is provided with protective members 7 and 7 for protecting the disk 5.
