PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-mounted small fuse having a stable fusion characteristic and a strong time lag property, easy to manufacture and capable of providing a certain fusing time. SOLUTION: The body of this fuse has a rectangular ceramic split structure. A fuse element 60 (Ag:Cu:Zn:Sn=>;50%:>;20%:>;17%:>;5% (weight ratio)) wound around a ceramic rod 58 (Al2 O3 :MgO:BeO=>;96%:>;3%:<;1% (weight ratio)) is mounted in a hollow 62 of a lower ceramic case 54, and the end parts 76 of the fuse element 60 are locked to the side faces of the case. An upper ceramic case 52 is overlaid on it, and bases 56 are fitted to both ends of the body. The end parts 76 of the fuse element 60 are connected to the bases 56 by welding. In welding, projecting parts 74 fitted to recessed parts 72 formed on the body are formed on the bases 56, and the bases 56 are fixed to the body.
