PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polygon model outline detection method in an image processor capable of detecting an outline of a polygon model of computer graphics at a high speed based on a generated data structure. SOLUTION: The polygon model A to be generated has respective coordinate data on an apex i (xi, yi, zi), an apex j (xj, yj, zj) and an apex k (xk, yk, zk) as apex data. An edge L has the data on the two apexes i, j, and data on a surface F and a surface G adjacent to the edge L as edge data, for example. The surface F has the data on the three apexes i, j, k constituting the surface F and the data on the three edges L, M, N and a normal line f (fx, fy, fz) of the surface F as surface data. The model data with the data structures are generated, it is found whether respective normal lines of two surfaces adjacent to a side orient to the front direction or the rear direction of a screen, and it is decided that the side is the outline when the two normal line directions are different from each other in the front and rear. |
