PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interleaver that generates an interleave pattern in real time corresponding to a variable interleave length and realizes high transmission quality with low transmission power and less processing arithmetic amount/required memory capacity. SOLUTION: A parameter value retrieval section 21 reads an interleave length L on the basis of a data stream stored in a data stream storage device 1 and to be interleaved, decides a parameter value from a table of a parameter value table recording section 22 on the basis of the interleave length L, an automorphism arithmetic section 23 and a pruning section 24 generate an interleave pattern comprising L sets of integer streams f (I) according to a prescribed algorithm on the basis of the interleave length L and the parameter value, and selects and outputs the data stream in the data stream storage device 1 according to the pattern. The automorphism on a projective algebraic curve defined on a finite field is used for the calculation algorithm of the integer streams f (I).
