<p>A head-mounted contrast enhancing apparatus (10) enhances perceived signal contrast of a color display (12). The head-mounted color display contrast enhancing apparatus (10) comprises one or more color filters mounted on a structure, such as eyeglass lenses (20) mounted in eyeglass frames (32). The color filter has a frequency selectivity characteristic that produces more attenuation at some color frequencies not emitted by the color display than at the color frequencies emitted by the color display. The color filters are placed in close enough proximity to the eye (14) of the viewer of the color display such that most of the ambient (or non-emitted) light directed at the eye(s) (14) of the viewer is filtered by the color filter before striking the eyes of the viewer.</p> |
