A textile finishing agent contains as an active ingredient at least one methylol compound of urea and, as an additive for improving stability, 0À05-5%, preferably 0À1-4% by weight ( with reference to the active ingredient) of at least one water-soluble homopolymer or copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone having a K value of at least 25, preferably from 40 to 50. The additive may be a copolymer of N-vinylpyrrolidone with one or more of the following comonomers: vinyl esters of aliphatic monocarboxylic acids containing 2-4 carbon atoms; esters of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid with aliphatic alcohols of 1-4 carbon atoms; acrylamide or methacrylamide. |
