<p>366,011. Screw propeller shaft brackets. TELFER, E. V., 12, Mosley Street, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Oct. 20, 1930, No. 31459. [Classes 113 (ii) and 114.] The shaft webbing supporting a wing screw is provided with a convergent streamline slot or slots located transversely in front of the after-end of the webbing which after-end is substantially of aerofoil fore-and-aft cross section. The webbing 2 carries stern tubes 3 and has two convergent streamline slots S<1>, S<2> the outlets 5 on the upper surface 6 being abaft the inlets 7 at the lower surface 8, the walls 9, 11 being convergent toward the upper surface. The after portion of the webbing is of aerofoil cross section constituted by the surfaces 6, 8, 11. For modifying existing webbing the upper and lower surfaces are cut and the walls completed by welding the intersecting plates in position.</p> |
