PURPOSE: To provide a product development management system and method capable of making the best and quickest judgments by use of a database which collects the newest information all the time, by unitarily managing the element information needed for a plurality of judgments on the database. CONSTITUTION: The system includes a product database 17 recording information about the specifications of products for which orders are accepted and the results of product verification during the manufacture of the products, a product knowledge database 27 recording the results of products previously manufactured and the results of verification thereof, a reliability judging means 16k for judging the reliability of the product after the completion of manufacture by referring to the product database 17 and the product knowledge database 27, and an approval means 16e for approving the next manufacturing process by referring to the product database 17 and the reliability of the product obtained by the reliability judging means 16k.
