PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vaccine against bacterial pathogen by using lactoferrin receptor protein. SOLUTION: This method for separating and purifying lactoferrin receptor protein from a bacterial pathogen, and the vaccine containing the purified lactoferrin receptor protein and/or their derivatives are provided. The lactoferrin receptor participates in a mechanism for obtaining iron essential for causing the growth, life or infection of the bacterial pathogen. The vaccine is a new vaccine utilizing the mechanism.
