PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the maximum speed of an arm at a push out timing and a low speed at starting or withdrawing in a sorting device pushing out an article by the arm. SOLUTION: The sorting device 1 provided near a conveyance path 2 has a rotary drive shaft 7 between a base 3 and a frame 4. A driving gear 17 driven by a motor 13 and a driven gear 18 of a shaft 7 are two-lobe elliptical gears. The arm 8 on an upper end of the shaft 1 has a main gear 6 fixed to the frame and planetary gears 11 and 12, and a push plate 12 is provided on a rotary shaft of the planetary gear 11. When the shaft 7 is rotated by the motor, the plate 12 rotates while maintaining the same attitude and it pushes out the article on the conveyance path 2. Angular velocity ratios of the two-lobe elliptical gears are not constant, the sorting arm starts at a comparatively slow speed, it reaches a sufficient speed when pushing out the article, it becomes slow again after pushing, and it is positioned in a stopping position. Sorting work is positively carried out without flawing the article and the stopping position of the device becomes highly accurate.
