PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve both of the output of a diesel engine and the exhaust purifying performance. SOLUTION: A nozzle part of a fuel injection valve is provided with plural upward injection holes and downward injection holes, a diameter of the upward injection holes is larger than that of the downward injection holes, the penetration force and a fuel injection amount from the upward injection holes is more than the penetration force and the fuel injection amount from the downward injection holes. Whereby the superposing of the fuel spray 9a from the upward injection holes to the fuel spray 9b from the downward injection holes can be prevented, the high output can be secured, further the mixture of the fuel spray with the air by inverted squish current in a latter half of a combustion process is promoted, and the discharge of the smoke can be prevented.
