PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for refining chlorine which efficiently separates non-condensable gas in the liquid chlorine, is capable of reducing a running cost relating to heating, cooling, or the like, in a process from refining to gasifying and can be stably operated without using a pump for transferring the liquid chlorine or the like. SOLUTION: This method for refining the chlorine includes a separating process step of separating the non-condensable gas from the liquid chlorine by using a distillation column 1 and a vaporizing process step of transferring the liquid chlorine withdrawn from the bottom of the distillation column 1 to an evaporator 2 and vaporizing the liquid chlorine and comprises supplying a part of the gaseous chlorine vaporized in the evaporator 2 as a heat source to the bottom gaseous phase section of the distillation column 1 and withdrawing the gas thickened with the non-condensable gas from the top of the distillation column 1. The evaporator 2 exists lower than the bottom of the distillation column 1 and the liquid chlorine is transferred to the evaporator 2 by utilizing the difference in the height from the distillation column 1.
