The method involves applying a trigger mark to the material in a defined geometric relationship to one of the marks, illuminating the material with light spots so each mark in a desired position lies in a spot when the trigger mark is in a defined position, determining the actual position of the relevant mark in the light spot and determining the deviations between the desired and actual positions of a mark within the relevant light spot. AN Independent claim is also included for the following: an arrangement for checking geometric association of at least two marks on moving material.
