PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber protective member that extends from a module package, and to provide an optical module that has improved protective functions for the optical fiber. SOLUTION: The optical module 1 has a package 2 that stores optical parts, an optical fiber 12 that is fixed in the package so as to be optically coupled with the optical parts, and a protective member 20 that protects the optical fiber 12. The protective member 20 has a tubular main body 21 which consists of an elastic material for covering the package 2 and the optical fiber 12 and a reinforcing member 22 which, installed along the inner circumferential face of the tubular main body 21 and covers the outer periphery of the optical fiber 12 in a state of non-contact with the optical fiber. |
