PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, with which optical two-way multiplex transmission can be performed with the transmission rate of high speed only by using just two kinds of wavelength without increasing a number of kinds of wavelength. SOLUTION: A first optical two-way multiplex transmission system 181 performs optical two-way multiplex transmission through one optical transmission line 17 by using just two-wavelength (generally λ1 and λ2 are to be used for forward transmission and λ1 ' and λ2 ' are to be used for backward transmission but especially the conditions of λ1 =λ1 ' and λ2 =λ2 ' are established). By adding a second optical two-way multiplex transmission system 182 having the same configuration and mutually parallel executing the similar transmission in two systems, the transmission can be performed with the double rate as high as a case of one system without increasing a number of kinds of wavelength. Generally, by providing 1st to n-th optical two-way multiplex transmission systems 181 to 18n , transmission can be performed with an n-fold rate by using only two kinds of wavelength. |
