PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To blow cold air evenly against a matter to be cooled, to eliminate thereby nonuniformity in cooling and to attain shortening of a cooling time, improvement of quality and reduction of a cooling cost, by rotating a cart holding the matter to be cooled. SOLUTION: In a cooling device which cools the matter 60 to be cooled such as an agricultural or marine product or a processed foodstuff with cold air, the cart 6 provided in a cooling chamber 1 and so constituted as to hold the matter 60 to be cooled is rotated horizontally, and the cold air is blown against the cart 6 from the lateral side.
