PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymerization initiator composition excellent in storing stability, showing a small effect on the polymerization of a fluorine-based olefin, and also not containing CFC or HCFC having a large ozone-disruption coefficient, and to provide a method for producing a fluorine-containing polymer by using the same. SOLUTION: The polymerization initiator composition consists of (A) an organic peroxide having 30-125 deg.C 10 hr half life temperature, and (B) a fluorine- containing solvent having zero ozone-disruption coefficient and 10-120 deg.C boiling point, and the method for producing the fluorine-containing polymer by using the above polymerization initiator composition is also provided.
