PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent cars from being damaged or passer-by from being injured by properly deforming when the car lightly touches a car stop or the passer-by touches the car stop and, when the car stop is broken, easily replace the car stop with a new one at a low cost in the car stop installed in a boundary between a roadway and a sidewalk. SOLUTION: This car stop comprises a base part 10 partly buried in the ground or fixed to a floor surface with bolts and a columnar part 20 inserted into the base part 10. The portion of the columnar part 20 inserted into the base part 10 at least near the lower end of the columnar part 20 is formed with a resin material with high elasticity, and annular grooves 23 are formed near the lower end under the portion coming into contact with the bumper of the car. When the car comes into contact with that portion, a stress is concentrated to the portion of the grooves 23 to partially deform the grooves 23 or break the columnar part at the portion of the grooves 23.
