The invention relates to a method for chemically converting a fluidic medium under an elevated pressure and an elevated temperature and to a reaction container for carrying out said method. According to the invention, the fluidic medium is conducted through a heating zone, in which the medium supplied under pressure is heated and an adjoining reaction zone, in which the chemical conversion takes place. A sealing fluid is conducted between an internal wall that delimits the heating and reaction zones and that is reaction-proof at least in the vicinity of the reaction zone and an external wall that surrounds the internal wall, said fluid supporting the pressure prevailing on the internal wall. In addition, the converted medium is evacuated from the reaction zone through the heating zone, at the same time transferring heat to the supplied medium.
