VSB COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OF DIGITAL TELEVISION

PURPOSE: A VSB(Vestigial Side Band) communication system of a digital television is provided to receive additional data without any errors even in a channel having serious ghost and noise, wherein the system is compatible with the existing VSB receiver. CONSTITUTION: A VSB communication system of a digital television includes a reed-Solomon encoding element for encoding additional data to send via a first path, an interleaving element for interleaving the encoded additional data, a repeating encoding element for encoding input 1 byte to 2 byte for the interleaved additional data, a header assigning part for adding an MPEG header for the repeatedly encoded additional data, and a multiplexer for multiplexing the MPEG data input via a second path and the additional data assigned with the header, wherein the multiplexed data for the data input via the first and second paths are modulated in the VSB transmission type to be transmitted.
