PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier having an input means and an output means. SOLUTION: An optical fiber path connects signal-transmissively the input and output means; the optical fiber path has a Raman fiber amplifier and rare- earth-doped fiber amplifier; the Raman fiber amplifier and the rare-earth-doped fiber amplifier are set in a serial arrangement; and thus, the Raman amplification fiber and the rare-earth-doped fiber are pumped by the same pump wavelength. Furthermore, an optical fiber communication system having the optical fiber amplifier is also provided. |
