CLATHRATE OF AZITHROMYCIN HYDRATE WITH 1,2-PROPYLENEGLYCOL, METHODS FOR THE MANUFACTURE THEREOF, AND PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITIONS THEREOF

PURPOSE: Provided are clathrate of azithromycin hydrate with 1,2-propyleneglycol, which has excellent stability and is useful for the manufacture of a therapeutic agent for infections, a method for the manufacture thereof, and a pharmaceutical composition thereof. CONSTITUTION: The clathrate of azithromycin hydrate with 1,2-propyleneglycol is represented by the formula(1), wherein m is greater than 1 and smaller than 2 and n is 0.30-0.45. Its manufacturing method comprises the steps of: dissolving azithromycin in aceton at room temperature or at the boiling point of a solvent then adding 1,2-propyleneglycol and water; and filtering and washing produced crystals then drying them at 40-45 deg.C for 24 hours. The therapeutic agent for infections contains the clathrate of azithromycin hydrate with 1,2-propyleneglycol, and pharmaceutically acceptable carriers.
