PURPOSE: A paper clip is provided to allow a user to conveniently and smoothly insert or extract one or several papers downward, horizontally, or diagonally under all circumstances. CONSTITUTION: The paper clip consists of an upper plate(10) and a lower plate(20) to be coupled with each other, the lower plate being formed with a coupling groove and an attachment part(24) for fixing the clip to a certain place, and the upper plate being formed with a protrusion to be fitted into the coupling groove of the lower plate and a coupling part(14) protruded toward the lower plate. In order to prevent unintentional secession of a paper sheet(30) captured by the clip and secure smooth insertion of the paper sheet, an elastic plate(12) is fixed in an elastic plate fixing portion within the upper plate so that a free part of the elastic plate is compressively pushed to the front surface of the lower plate.
