LIGHT AMPLIFICATION REPEATER, TERMINAL STATION, OPTICAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM AND FAULT MONITORING METHOD THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light amplification repeater capable of easily specifying a fault exciting light source in simple constitution. SOLUTION: The light amplification repeater is provided with LDs 3a and 3b to which different intrinsic frequencies are allocated beforehand, light amplification parts 1a and 1b provided in a transmission line through which the main signal light of a prescribed wavelength is transmitted and respectively excited by exciting light supplied from the LDs 3a and 3b, from which the inputted main signal light is amplified and outputted and fault monitoring means (4-8 and 18a-18c) generating the monitoring signal light of the wavelength different from the wavelength of the main signal light modulated by the intrinsic frequency and sending out the generated monitoring signal light onto the transmission line when a fault is generated in one of the LDs 3a and 3b.
