PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide high purity butyl acetate having an extremely reduced concentration of a material derived from sulfuric acid detected by an ion chromatographic analysis, and causing the increase of little amount of the sulfuric acid with time. SOLUTION: This method for producing the high purity butyl acetate comprises subjecting the butyl acetate produced by esterifying acetic acid with n-butanol in the presence of a sulfuric acid-based catalyst to a neutralizing treatment, distilling and purifying the neutralized product, and treating the purified product with an anion exchange resin preferably at 15-70 deg.C at 0.1-30 hr<-1> space velocity to reduce the concentration of the material derived from the sulfuric acid detected by the ion chromatographic analysis to <=20 ppb. |
