PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve performance of a disk by correcting a tilt angle using a beta value that is easily measurable. SOLUTION: As a method for detecting the tilt angle, the beta value is used showing the symmetry of a RF signal waveform. Since the beta value is maximized when the tilt angle is zero, the tilt angle can be corrected by adding a tilt correction so as to obtain the maximum beta value. In addition, with the beta value as a target, tilt correction is made possible during reproduction by monitoring the beta value during the reproduction and giving correction when the beta is greatly deviated from the target value.
