<p>The support member (10) for height adjustable furniture comprises a lower support portion (12) which has a foot located at the lower end thereof to rest on the ground. The lower support portion (12) is moveable along a longitudinal axis away from and towards a support surface of the furniture in order to vary the height of the surface. At least an upper part of the lower support portion (12) is located within a sleeve 14. Accordingly, the lower support portion (12) can be extended out of, or retracted into the sleeve in order to vary the overall length of the support member (10). The eight adjustable furniture is supported by more than one support member (10) and it is important that all of the support members (10) support the support surface at the same height in order to provide a level horizontal surface and, accordingly, when one support member is extended or retracted then all of the support members are subsequently extended or retracted automatically.</p> |
