A support frame (5) is provided for the modular-type assembly of the separate elements of the whole exhaust gas turbocharger unit, and by means of which the charger section, comprising a turbine and compressor, and/or the charge air cooler as well as the charge air guide components and cooling medium piping can be pre-assembled in any sequence, and so that the whole turbocharger unit as a module can be fitted on or removed from the frame of the engine.
