The invention concerns a method for making a device capable of modifying the gaseous atmosphere in a sealed or permeability-controlled chamber following absorption or release of a target gas, said device containing a humidity-sensitive reactive powder enclosed in an envelope at least partly permeable to the target gas. Said method is characterised in that it comprises the following successive steps: mixing the reactive powder with a non-aqueous and fatty transporting liquid selected or formulated so as to obtain a stable non-reactive suspension (3, 13, 23), applying the non-reactive suspension (3) on a support film (41), gluing a coating film (42) on the support film (41) thus coated so as to obtain a complex (1), and eliminating at least a significant proportion of the transporting liquid by migration and absorption in one of the two films constituting the complex (1) so as to restore the reactivity of the powder.
