ELECTROMAGNETIC DEVICE PARTICULARLY USEFUL AS A VIBRATOR FOR A FLUID PUMP

An electromagnetic device includes a core (3) and a coil (4) in the space between a central section (3b) and an outer section (3a) of the core (3) and spaced inwardly of an open side of the core (3) such that the coil (4) is completely recessed within the core (3). An armature (6), facing and aligned with the recess in the core (3) is being movable towards and away from the coil (4). A pair of springs (13, 14) on the opposite ends of the core (3), and coaxial with the longitudinal axis of the core (3), mount the armature (6) for straight-line reciprocatory movements parallel to the longitudinal axis of the core (3) such that during the movement of the armature (6): (a) a recess (6a) in the armature (6) receives the central (3b) of the core (3); (b) the outer surface of the armature (6) defines a first working gap with the inner surface of the core outer section (3a); (c) and the inner surface of the armature (6) at the recess defines a second working gap with the outer surface of the core central section (3b).
