Block likelihood calculators 106-1 to 106-n calculate likelihood of each symbol included in a received signal, thereafter setting likelihood for rank decision from the calculated likelihood on a predetermined block-by-block basis. A rank decider 109 decides a rank with respect to each symbol included in the predetermined block based on the set block likelihood on the block-by-block basis. A re-spreader 110 spreads the symbol whose rank is the highest on the block-by-block basis, and a subtracter 111 removes the spread symbol from the received signal on the block-by-block basis.
