The invention relates to a passenger protection system containing a central control unit (1) to which two acceleration sensors (2, 3) arranged on opposite vehicle doors (17,18) are connected. Said two acceleration sensors (2, 2) record accelerations acting on the vehicle (10) transversally in relation to the vehicle axis (y). The difference (D) between the acceleration values (aR, aL) of the two acceleration sensors (2, 3) is formed in the control unit (1). According to the temporal course and the amplitude course of the difference (D), either a lateral impact or a tripped rollover is indicated. |
