PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor for motor vehicle with a small number of parts and a small number of assembly man-hours which can be inexpensively manufactured. SOLUTION: The gas sensor 1 for motor vehicle is comprised of two parts of a sensor unit 9 and a casing 19. The sensor unit 9 comprises a sensor substrate 3, a sensor element module 5 integrally mounted to the sensor substrate 3, and a sensor output processing circuit part 7 for processing output signals from the sensor element module 5. The casing 19 comprises both a gas introducing opening part 13 for allowing a gas sensor element 11 incorporated into the sensor element module 5 to come into contact with a gas to be detected and a terminal connector part 15 for extracting output signals from the sensor output processing circuit part 7 and is provided inside with a sealing space 17 for the sensor unit 9. The casing 19 comprises a first casing part 21 and a second casing part 23 integrally fitted to each other at a fitting surface 18 for dividing the sealing space 17. A substrate mounting and engaging part 25 is formed at a location of the first casing part 21 that faces the sealing space 17.
