The disk drive includes an evaluation unit (15) which stores data for an eccentric shift, indicating size and phase angle of the eccentricity of the disk, produced from a combination of the track error signal and the index signal. The disk drive includes a positioning arrangement (10) for moving a lens (11), and hence an optical point over a data track on the disk. There is a motor (8) for driving the positioning arrangement. A track error detector (14) receives light reflected by the optical disk and detects a track error signal, which represents a degree of coincidence between the optical point and the data track. An index pulse generation device generates an index signal which indicates at least one rotation of the optical disk. An evaluation unit (15) stores data of an eccentric shift, indicating a size and a phase angle of the eccentricity of the disk. This is produced from a combination of the track error signal and the index signal. The motor is controlled through a drive or control signal which is produced from the data of the eccentric shift.
