<p>There is disclosed a method of generating and transmitting a multi-resolution image data file, in which successively higher resolutions of image data are sent sequentially between an image data source device, and a printer device. The printer device receives a multi-resolution image data file, and from that file prints an image at a resolution which is suitable for the amount of internal memory and/or data storage device within the printer device, and including full vector data and full text data. Using the same image data file format, the same image data file sent to a different printer device having increased memory and/or data storage capacity results in an increased resolution image data, also containing the same vector data and text data. <IMAGE></p> |
