PURPOSE: A portable keyboard is provided to input Hangul vowels by a combination of three basic keys on a Hangul keyboard, to input Hangul consonants by pushing keys arranged in a consonant order on a Hangul keyboard, and to input alphabets by pushing keys arranged in an alphabetic order on an alphabet keyboard. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a Hangul keyboard(1), an alphabet keyboard(3) and a cable(7). The two keyboards(1, 3) are foldable and if necessary, are independently operated. An operator can selectively input a Hangul or an alphabet on one keyboard, for example, by arranging a Hangul consonant and an alphabet on one key and using a mode conversion key. Hangul consonants or alphabets are arranged on keys in a Hangul consonant or an alphabetic order, and Hangul vowels are input by a combination of three basic keys so that a novice, who is not used to a standardized keyboard, can easily input a corresponding character. Specially, two alphabet letters are arranged on one key for reducing a size of the keyboard. The cable(7) transmits character input signals to a portable data processing device.
