PURPOSE: A program installation method is provided to make it possible installing a program at a PC only in a case that an authentication key is connected to the PC and to make a user receive an authentication from a server during the installation process by using a code recorded at the authentication key. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of starting a program installation procedure, displaying a PC state selection menu, in a case that a user selects an online state in the PC state selection menu, registering the user PC at an operation server(S1), starting to install the program(S2), checking if the server requests a product number of the program, enabling the user to insert an authentication key, supplied with a record media, into a USB(Universal Serial Bus) port, making the PC receive the product number stored at the authentication key, installing the program if the input product number is normal(S3), making the PC access the server, transmit encryption data stored at the key to the server and receive an ID for using the program from the server(S4), finishing the installation of the program(S5), in a case that the user selects an offline state in the PC state selection menu, enabling the user to insert an authentication key, supplied with a record media, into a USB(Universal Serial Bus) port, making the PC receive the product number stored at the authentication key, installing the program if the input product number is normal, displaying an ID request and a query response request screen, enabling the user to make a phone to a program supplier, to find out the ID and the query answer and to input the ID and the query answer, and finishing the installation of the program.
