<p>A vacuum drying apparatus comprises of a first chamber 32/132 for receiving articles to be dried, such as clothes (fig 2) or dishes (fig1), a fan 40/140 having an inlet connected to an outlet of the first chamber and an outlet connected to an inlet of a second chamber 26/126 and a vacuum pump 20/120 communicating with the outlet of the second chamber, where thermal energy recovered from the condensation of water vapour in the second chamber can be transferred back to the first chamber. The first chamber may be located entirely within the second chamber and in the case of the clothes drier, the first chamber may rotate. Heating means may be provided to heat the first chamber.</p> |
