PURPOSE: A harmful web site management database update method and system is provided to automatically collect data for harmful web sites, to check if the collected data has an error, and to perform an effectiveness test for maintaining the latest harmful web site data providing service. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of a harmful web site data collection(S101), a harmful site check(S102), and an effectiveness test(S103). In the harmful web site data collection step(S101), a web robot automatically searches web sites from a start site designated by a user, and stores a web site at a source database if a harmful keyword is included in the contents of the searched web site by referring to a harmful keyword database. In the harmful site check step(S102), a specialized searcher directly visits the corresponding web site and determines if the web site is harmful. In order to enhance a correctness degree, a check process is performed twice. In the effectiveness test step(S103), a web robot searches each site stored at a harmful web site management database, determines an effectiveness, stores the site at an effectiveness test database for a period if the site does not satisfy a reference, performs a check process by storing the site at the source database or a candidate database if the site needs to be checked again, and deleting the site if the site needs not to be checked again.
