<p>A thermal transfer printing apparatus for marking a zip fastener chain (150,160,170,200), wherein said chain comprises a pair of stringers (103,105) with each stringer comprising a plurality of coupling elements (111,113) located on an edge of a tape (107,109). The printing apparatus comprising two thermal transfer print heads (210,212) for printing onto front and rear surfaces of said zip-fastener chain (200), a feed motor (214) for feeding said chain past the print heads; and rotary a shaft encoder (206) for measuring lengths of chain. Control means are coupled to the print heads, feed motor and rotary shaft encoder, in order to control the intervals at which the chain is printed. <IMAGE></p> |
