PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-plated wire for welding which is excellent in feedability and arc stability and is smaller in the amount of the fume to be produced. SOLUTION: This non-plated wire is 0.51 to 0.84 in the value of LD/LT defined by equation (1) if the total sum of the lengths of the measurement straight lines passing the working surfaces is defined as 1d and the length of the measurement straight line as 1t when the measurement straight line having the arbitrary length to include respectively two pieces or over of the working surfaces and non-working surface in the arbitrary measurement area (100μm×100μm) of the wire surface is drawn by every 5μm in the transverse direction (the longitudinal direction of the wire) of the measurement area and is 10 to 40μm in the LY defined by equation (2) if the size of the largest width of the working surface is defined as 1y across the straight line at the arbitrary one point of 100μm length existing within the measurement area.
