摘要 <p>1,199,121. Safety razors. GILLETTE CO. 25 Jan., 1968 [27 Feb., 1967; 10 April, l967], No. 3942/68. Heading B4B. In a ribbon-type razor or magazine therefor, the guard is adjustable at least vertically relative to the blade. In one form, guard structure 68, Figs. 1 and 2, is received in channels 66 of a magazine cover 16 and comprises a body 70 having a scale moulded thereon and a corresponding series of latching surfaces 73. A guard bar 74 is formed on the body 70. The guard is adjustable relative to the sharpened edge 40 of blade 26 by means of a disc 83 provided with a spiral groove 84 which engages stub 72 on the structure 68. Indicator bar 86 has a latch surface 75 engaging one of the latching surfaces 73. The body 70 has a rear surface 71 which engages wiping surface 48 disposed below blade platform 28 mounted on a back member 14. Slots defined by spacer tabs 76 allow release of soap and/or water which might accumulate during shaving. The centre tab 76 enters slot 50 to provide guidance for vertical movement of the structure 68. In a modification the guard bar is integral with the cover and the entire cover (16<SP>1</SP>), Fig. 4 (not shown), is adjustable relative to back member (141). Locking tabs (150) extend laterally from studs (152) which project from cover (16<SP>1</SP>) through apertures (154) in the back member (14<SP>1</SP>) and latch on the back of the back member with vertical walls (156) of apertures (154) providing guide surfaces which co-operate with studs (152). In another modification, the adjusting mechanism comprises a disc (200), Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown), mounted coaxially with supply chamber wall (24<SP>11</SP>) and having an eccentrically mounted stud (204) received in a guide slot (206) in the cover (16<SP>11</SP>) with which the guard bar (74<SP>11</SP>) is integral. Back member (1411) has an inclined surface (210) mating with a corresponding inclined surface on cover (16<SP>11</SP>) so that guard bar (74<SP>11</SP>) moves horizontally and vertically when the disc (200) is rotated. In a further modification, rotatable adjusting disc (220), Figs. 9 and 10 (not shown), is mounted coaxially with a take-up arbor (32<SP>111</SP>) and has a spiral groove (222) engaged by a pin (224) formed integrally with the cover (16<SP>111</SP>), the latter including the guard bar, as before. In another modification, a cam (230 or 230<SP>1</SP>), Figs. 11 and 12 (not shown), rotatable about a shaft (232 or 232<SP>1</SP>) fixed to the cover (16) engages a cam surface (234 or 234<SP>1</SP>) formed in the back plate (14). . In a further modification, the teeth of a helical gear (250), Fig. 13 (not shown), rotatable with the cover (16) co-operate with gear teeth (252) formed on back member (14). In a still further modification, a guard bar 380, Fig. 14, is connected to the front wall of a cover 360 by a flexible web 382. A horizontal wiping surface (384), Fig. 17 (not shown), between the bar 380 and the web 382 engages a wiping surface 344, Fig. 16 of the back member 314. The shaving geometry is adjusted by a rotatable disc 460 secured between the holder body 416 and the take-up advancing lever 418. The disc 460 has a spiral groove (464), Fig. 18 (not shown), in which the tab (444), Fig. 17 (not shown), of an actuating plate 434 is received. Rotation of the disc 460 moves the plate 434 in a direction perpendicular to blade platform 322 but due to the engagement of camming surfaces 438 of the upper transverse portion 436 of plate 434 with inclined surface 470 of the holder body 416, the portion 436 has a horizontal component of movement which is communicated via arms 390, 392, which pass through slots 346, 348, to move the guard bar 380.</p>
