PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a functionally gradient material which can relieve thermal stress and can easily produce and has advantage in a cost, and a die casting apparatus. SOLUTION: The functionally gradient material is the one in which a thermal stress relieving layer constituted of an inorganic fiber is interposed between a metallic material and a ceramic layer coated on this metallic material, and the ceramic layer, the metallic material and the thermal stress relieving layer are stuck with an inorganic material base adhesive. Further, the die casting apparatus has the peculiarity, in which the thermal stress relieving layer constituted of the inorganic fiber is interposed between the metallic part in contact with molten metal and the ceramic layer coated on the metallic part in contact with the molten metal, and the ceramic layer, the metallic part in contact with the molten metal and the thermal stress relieving layer are stuck with the inorganic material base adhesive.
